A couple of months ago, our family took a hike up Three Falls with the Spendloves and Leavitts. When we reached the third "fall" (the end of the line), the kids found an injured baby barn owl, a beautiful puff-ball of soft white down. We gently carried the owl out of the canyon and Leavitts took it to a local man who is one of the few people licensed in Utah to rehabilitate wild animals.
Not long ago, Debbie Leavitt gave me this update: Just found out that Justin Neighbors rehabilitated the baby owl, taught it how to hunt, and made sure it could fly. He just released it yesterday. He took it up on the cliff and found 5 other young owls and two parents. Awesome!
