Last week in clinic, the doctor looked into the ear of a 19 year old who was in for an OB visit. He then invited me to look. I stuck the otoscope into the ear canal and saw something I hadn't seen before. I wondered if I was really seeing what I thought I saw.
Dr. G: What do you see?
Me: Looks like she has some scarring on her tympanic membrane. (I was trying to stall....)
Dr. G: What do you see in the auditory canal?
Me (Trying to act nonchalant, I turned to the patient): You have a bug in your ear.

Do you remember Justin's story of an earwig in his ear? It's pretty funny to hear him tell it...he thought something was rattling around in his head.
