Angel's Landing
Today the kids and I climbed Angel's Landing. We, (by that I mean ME), have wanted to do it since moving here 3 years ago. It was an incredible experience. Not only the scenery, but making it up without a heart attack.

Making Jewelry
Janessa and I made jewelry with our friends Debbie and Shari. Actually, that's not entirely honest. Janessa and I attempted to make jewelry. I spent $40 in jewelry making "stuff" and Janessa came home with one necklace. I didn't. My creative juices were dried up.
Gosh, compared to my jewelry, LiaSophia is inexpensive.

Kristi Becomes a Doctor
Today we got up at 5:00 am and drove to SLC for my sister's graduation from Medical School at the University of Utah. Afterwards, we ate tacos from a street vendor hired by Kristi and her roommates Sara and Jake, who are married. Sara just happens to be the daughter of a lady I work with in St. George. All this time my sister was living with a co-workers daughter and neither of us knew about the connection! Congrats Kristi. You are inspiring and deserving of this noble degree!

Tiger Commencement Class of 2008
Sean graduated from high school today - summa cum laude, sharing the co-valedictorian honor with his best friend, Jordan Hall. Grad day was one of those perfect days, the kind of days that stick out in one's mind like a jagged mountain range, drawing the eye from peak to peak rarely noticing what is in between. It is this stringing together of perfect days, a somewhat lilly-pad hopping from moment to moment that propels one to hang on through the mundane days inbetween.
The day went something like this: We awoke and partook of a homemade breakfast cooked by me, something as rare as Donald Trump admitting he's wrong. We then drove into St. George and went to the Temple Visitor's Center to see a traveling exhibit of exquisite bronzed sculptures depicting different bible scenes. Next we settled at the Olive Garden, Sean's choice for a celebratory lunch. We were joined by Gpa and Gma Hackworth, and Gpa and Gma Fisher. Stuffed and satisfied, we mosied on over to the Burns Arena on the Dixie State College Campus where the commencement exercises took place. Sean participated in the program via spoken word as well as playing the bass drum during the symphonic orchestra's rousing rendition of "Pirates of the Caribbean".
After the program, Sean was inundated by folks wanting a picture with him. Girls, girls, girls came from the six corners of the building and stood in line. We were the last ones out of the building. Sean commented on how good it felt to have nothing to do now. His last month of school had been incredibly busy. Finally, we ended the day with a little Cold Stone.
Congratulations dear son. We are so proud of you!

Following the Crowd
I don't journal. This has always been a source of constant pain, like a rough pebble in my shoe, ever grating. Without a regular record, I don't know important things, like when exactly I started my menses (I do know that my dad announced it at the dinner table beaming just as proudly as when the Lion King introduced Simba, while my little brothers groaned, forever losing their appetite for stewed tomatoes). I can't remember when my kids got their first tooth, or their reaction when they tasted their first circus peanut. There is no record of my first and most recent kiss. Disgusting! Not the kisses, but the lack of evidence proving that it happened.
After just reading the book, These is My Words, I became motivated to do some journaling. But I heard once that insight doesn't motivate one to action. Behavior motivates action. So, I'm jumping on the "blogging bandwagon" and here I am. Despite not having ANY time for it, I am bound and determined to write something every so often. Yes, blogging may finally be the way to write the journal I've so desperately neglected. No one may ever read this (actually, I highly recommend that people don't), but it will be here, for better or worse.
